Sometimes you look back at an old version of yourself and feel embarrassed. Why did you stay? Why did you beg? Why did you accept so little? Why did you act like that? 😭 But then, if you're gentle for even one second, you realize that person wasn't stupid. They were surviving with the tools they had.
Survival can look messy from a distance 🧭🤍 It can look like attachment, silence, people-pleasing, anger, denial, staying busy, sleeping too much, loving the wrong person, laughing at the wrong time. But it kept you alive. It got you here. You can learn from old-you without dragging them through shame. They didn't know what you know now. They didn't have your current strength, language, or support. Tonight, send them a little mercy. Say, 'I understand now.' That doesn't excuse every choice, but it softens the punishment. You are allowed to grow without hating the version of you who had to crawl 🌙
