Do you notice how often you say sorry? Sorry for asking. Sorry for replying late. Sorry for needing clarification. Sorry for being tired. Sorry for taking up time. Sorry for having a body in the doorway, basically 😭 Somewhere along the way, maybe you learned that your presence was something to soften before people could accept it.
You don't have to apologize for being a person 🙇🤍 Of course, apologize when you hurt someone. That's different. But needing help isn't harm. Having a question isn't harm. Taking space isn't harm. Existing with needs, timing, emotions, and limits is not an offense. Tonight, try replacing one sorry with thank you. 'Thank you for waiting.' 'Thank you for listening.' 'Thank you for understanding.' Feel how different that is. You are not a problem entering the room. You are allowed to arrive without making yourself smaller at the door 🌙
